ONE owner who missed the meeting at Downpatrick on Tuesday was Thomas Heatrick whose homebred Oakfield Rose landed the bumper for the Ado McGuinness stable.

The four-year-old Iffraaj filly provided her rider Luke McGuinness, nephew of the trainer, with his first racecourse success. Both are neighbours so it was great to see the mare get up late although Deckie Lavery, who was second on the Brian Hamilton-trained Canadian Steel, wouldn’t have been so pleased to see the four-year-old arrive on his outer.
