Calumet death: Bertha Cochran Wright, a member of the family that built Calumet Farm into one of the nation’s leading thoroughbred operations in the last century, died on Thursday, July 31st, at the age of 94, in Lexington Kentucky.

The Wright family was instrumental in developing the American stud book over the last half a century, largely through the acquisition of a breeding interest in English Derby winner Blenheim II, who was imported and syndicated by Claiborne Farm; and through the purchase of a son of Bull Dog named Bull Lea.
