MICHAEL Winters experienced a ‘Super Saturday’ at Cheltenham the previous afternoon by saddling Chatham Street Lad to win the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup and the absent trainer continued in a victorious vein at Boulta on Sunday by sending out the five-year-old Barrowdale to record a scintillating debut success in the winner-of-two contest.

Barrowdale got into a lovely rhythm at the head of affairs on the rain-softened ground and he benefited from a well-judged front-running ride from Chris O’Donovan, who was most meritoriously recording a 50th victory in points, by recording a virtual pillar-to-post success in the familiar Trevor Hemmings silks.
