The bay, who received top marks of 29.5 from the ridden display suitability and potential judge, Jane O’Flynn, was bred near Roscrea by Maire Deasy out of the Cloughjordan Boy VII mare Shumi. To date, Fortmoy Cushla hasn’t finished in the top 10 in four Eventing Ireland outings at pre-novice level but one imagines that he will progess from here.

Michael O’Toole finished second on 400 points with the Cavalier Two For Joy mare Night And Light on whom he won two intro level classes last year, finishing third in the Irish Sport Horse four-year-old series. The skewbald mare, who was bred by Margaret Murphy, is a full-sister to O’Toole’s international three-star ride Greenfort Endeavour, being out of the Mummy’s Luck mare Cost A Lot. Fred Scala had already qualified with the third-placed Newmarket Venture gelding Newmarket Ventro.
