TIPPERARY trainer Timothy ‘Toppy’ Corcoran has died after a short illmess.

Well known in point-to-point circles, he had plenty of success on the track and saddled winners as recently as May of last year. From Aughnagomaun, near Horse & Jockey, he held a jockey’s licence in the 1960s and 70s.

He also bred many of his runners, including his final winner, Treasure Mountain, who won a Tipperary mares’ bumper on her debut at 33/1.

Corcoran had runners in point-to-points this year. His gallop at Killough was used by other local trainers. His funeral mass took place on Thursday in Moycarkey and he is survived by his wife Josie and their six children.
