THE increasingly long reach of the Johnny Murtagh stable was felt on the two-year-old front for the first time this year courtesy of Measure Of Magic in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden.

From the first crop of Kodi Bear and out of the winning sprinter Lilly Be, the 4/1 chance was partnered by Shane Kelly as she looked to build on an encouraging fifth to More Beautiful at Naas last week. Measure Of Magic took charge of this race approaching the last furlong and she held on well to contain the oncoming Mooniesta by a short head. Interestingly the winner posted a time that was easily the quickest of the four races on the card that were run over the minimum trip.
