THE picture on the juvenile hurdling scene looks a whole lot clearer. Ivanovich Gorbatov ran a smart figure of 154 in the Triumph, well up to scratch for the race. Third-placed Footpad looked too far out of his ground but would have done well to have bettered either the winner or second-placed Apple’s Jade given how far clear rivals those two pulled. It should be worth persevering with sixth-placed Clan Des Obeaux, who found things happening a bit too quickly.

Diego Du Charmil won the Fred Winter in a decent time (136 timefigure). This was one of the slowest finishes of the week and those horses which raced close up deserve some extra credit.
