As a result of the deluge, organiser Danny Dulohery was forced to move the show jumping from the partially-flooded sand arena to the grass, and make a few late changes to the cross-country track.

Although the staging of the fixture had at one stage been in doubt, Dulohery’s decision to run was fully vindicated. Most of the lorries were parked on hard standing, and riders reported that the going in the country was perfectly within limits.
