HORSE Sport Ireland this week announced the Irish athletes for the FEI Dressage Youth European Championships and the FEI Jumping European Championships for Ponies, being held in Sentower Park, Belgium, from July 22nd to 28th, and the FEI Jumping European Championships for Young Riders, Juniors and Children on Horses in Kronenberg, The Netherlands, from July 15th to 21st.

HSI High Performance dressage director, Anne Marie Dunphy is sending a pony team of three to the championships, as well as individual combinations to the Junior and Children championships.

The pony team, in alphabetical order, is: Laragh Byrne (Steendeiks Dali Gold); Kate Murphy (Top Hero 2); and Aoife Nee (Maracuja AG).

Sophia Doheny has been selected to compete as a Junior with Batiqar, and Millie Cosgrave will compete in the Children on Horses with Let’s Dance. Due to the scheduling of the Championships and the Olympic Games, Vida Tansey will act as chef d’equipe in Sentower.

Pony show jumping

HSI High Performance pony show jumping team manager Gary Marshall has named his team for the FEI Jumping European Championships for Ponies as James Derwin (Rincoola Babog (ISH)); Ruben Foley (Cracher); Jack Kent (Double Pleasure); Senan Reape (Fernando); and Lily Tunney (Fireman). The non-travelling reserves are: Lauren Adams (Slieve Bloom Bella Rose (ISH)) and Annie Boland (Candy Coco (ISH)).

Young riders

Meanwhile, James Kernan sends Young Riders, Juniors and Children on Horses teams to the championships. The Young Riders are Francis Derwin (Flexi K (ISH)); Niamh McEvoy (Jasmim Da Hermida or Jargon DN); Max Wachman (Kilkenny (ISH) or Quintini); Tom Wachman (Cathalina S or Obora’s Laura); Rhys Williams (Preston Van’T Reebroeck). The non-travelling reserve is Alex Finney (L’Esprit Hero Z).

The junior team is Eoin Brennan (Eskola M or Limestown Briarhill Lui (ISH)); James Brennan (MHS I’m The One (ISH) or MHS Everything (ISH)); Gary Dooley (CSF Olympic Jewel (ISH)); Emily Moloney (Temple Alice (ISH)); Coen Williams (Conthanja or Elsandro Du Bois). The non-travelling reserve is Katie McEntee (Kinmar Bespoke (ISH)).

The Children On Horses team is Ted Fagan (Con Sol); Charlie Flynn (Elia); Daisy O’Dea (CSF Zurich (ISH) or Corraghoe Bounce); Robbie Sheehan (Fubalia); Sam Widger (Jerenice Dysenbeeck Z). The non-travelling reserve is Zoe Mellett (Jasmine Tide (ISH)).
