New training programme for prospective dressage judges

EVENTING Ireland Northern Region committee is setting up a programme to educate and approve Dressage Judges for classes up to EI100 level in the Northern Region, under the instruction of Joanne Jarden, who is a Dressage Ireland List 1 and FEI Level 4 Judge.

The programme will begin in the classroom, learning the dressage rules for Eventing and watching video clips to illustrate how marks are awarded by dressage judges for each movement; how to analyse the horse’s paces, the balance and harmony with the rider and so on. Participants will also learn how to check a dressage arena, mark the judging sheets and work with a scribe. The classroom sessions will be followed by practice judging session in a dressage arena.

Upon completion of training and positive assessment by Joanne Jarden, participants will be listed to judge at the appropriate level at 2024 EI Northern Region events.
