Laois Hunt Arena Hunter Trials

IN conjunction with the NPA Ploughing Championships, the Laois Hunt is hosting a hunter trials competition on Wednesday, September 20th at the Ploughing Championships in Ratheniska, Co Laois. The hunter trials will cater for individuals and also teams of four individuals from any registered hunt club in Ireland. The start time is noon. It is essential that the hunt receive entries, together with fees and addresses, well in advance of the event in order to facilitate postage of all relevant passes and access maps. Entry is €25 per horse.

Kildare Hunt Pony Club trailer and games equipment stolen

KILDARE Hunt Pony Club mounted games riders were devastated to discover that their trailer and all their games equipment had been stolen from Punchestown this week. The discovery was made on Wednesday when riders turned up for weekly training. The trailer is a green Ifor Williams 505. It is kitted out with shelving and packed with Mounted Games equipment which has been accumulated over many years. The trailer had a Kildare Pony Club number plate on its rear. It has been reported stolen and the club ask anyone who saw the trailer to contact Naas Garda Station.

Honeylands Hollywood

IN last week’s Cavan sales report, it was stated that Honeylands Hollywood (Luidam x Cavalier Royale) was bred by Ralph Morgan. However, the 15-year-old mare, who is now breeding for Morgan, was in fact bred by Harry Kellett of Tissington Hall, Dunderry in Co Navan who breeds his horses under the Honeylands prefix. The Irish Field is happy to make this clarification.

Eamonn Holmes RIP

THE equestrian community in Wicklow were devastated by the unexpected passing of Eamonn Holmes from Enniskerry, Co Wicklow last Saturday. A course designer and big supporter of the Irish Pony Club, among other activities, Eamonn’s funeral ceremony took place yesterday, Friday, September 1st. Eamonn will be deeply missed by his heartbroken family, wife Rita, son Darragh, daughter Amy, daughter-in-law Bryony, son-in-law Shane, granddaughter Fíadh, brothers and sisters Deirdre, Derek, Brenda and Colm, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, wide circle of friends and all who knew him in the equestrian world.
