THE Connemara Pony Breeders Society (CPBS) is inviting all Connemara Pony enthusiasts to it’s 99th Annual Show at the showgrounds in Clifden, Co Galwa,y from August 20th to 23rd.

The show secretary and the dedicated show team are already hard at work processing this year’s entries. Competitors are reminded that entries are now open online at and will close next Thursday, July 11th, at midnight.

The show kicks off on Tuesday, August 20th, with the highly anticipated loose jumping competition, taking place at the Clifden Sales Arena, according to the show schedule.

This event will feature a special focus on promoting the traditional smaller 138cm and under pony, with a perpetual cup awarded to the highest placed 138 pony in the loose jumping competition.

The in-hand show classes will take place on Wednesday, August 21st, along with the popular dog show and the domestic arts sections, offering something for everyone.

The ridden classes will dominate Thursday, August 22nd, including the Family Working Hunter and the final of the Irish Connemara Green Hunter.

Friday, August 23rd, will be the grand finale including the working hunter classes, the Clifden High Performance final and the thrilling Puissance competition, culminating in the spectacular Parade of Champions.

Horse Sport Ireland continues to sponsor the Irish Connemara Green Hunter final, with remaining qualifiers to be held at Barnadown, the Midlands Connemara Pony Show at Mullingar and Hollypark in Limerick.
