MADAM,

I AM writing on behalf of the Irish Draught Horse Breeders Association to thank The Irish Field and Susan Finnerty for the two-pages of coverage afforded to the Stallion Showcase run in Mullingar Equestrian Centre on the 20th March.

The IDHBA would like to thank the stallion owners who attended and commend them on the turn-out and behaviour of their horses. All were great adverts for their breeds. The aim of the showcase was to promote traditional breeding in a sport which is becoming dominated by foreign blood. The Irish Draught, the ISH (TIH), the TB and one Connemara travelled from as far afield as Mayo and Wexford to allow spectators to see 22 stallions in one central venue.

We would also like to thank the spectators who came on the day, and the volunteers who maintained a cheerful and orderly event which ran to time. All contributed to a very successful day, which after a two-year hiatus allowed people to start thinking about breeding and competing and meeting up once more.

Yours etc,

Michael Murphy

Chairman, IDHBA
