The SJI Summer Series continued at Wexford Equestrian last Sunday. Home rider Taylor Peare proved to be a popular winner of the Childeric Saddles-supported 1.30m division when she was fastest of the double clears with her father Pat’s Lissyegan Geoffrey (Hermes de Reve x Captain Clover) in a time of 36.71.

Along with taking the winner’s share of the prize fund, the junior rider also took home the €300 bonus which was sponsored by Brennan Agri. It has been a good month for this combination having qualified for the Dublin Horse Show young rider (1.25m-1.30m) division at the qualifier at Ard Chuain.

Claiming the runner-up spot was Aoife Dooley riding Marguerite Ryan’s Cavalier Teaca (Glidawn Diamond x Cavalier Royale), clear in 37.92. Jason Higgins partnered his own and Meabh Bolger’s six-year-old MBF Maxwill’s to a clear in 39.20 for third place, ahead of Vincent Byrne and the Killavallig Farm Ltd Sweetnam-owned seven-year-old Cinatra Gold in fourth.

James Brennan opted on the side of caution with MHS Grand Slam, delivering a clear in 44.30 for fifth place. Sixth place belonged to Paddy O’Donnell and his own seven-year-old Lord Latio, clear in 44.52.

Supported by Childeric Saddles, 43 combinations went to post in the 1.20m two-phase special. Claiming victory when clear in 38.57 was Deirdre Doyle and BLM Authentic Diamond. Owned by Tom Doyle, the 15-year-old gelding is by Guidam and out of BM Barbie Doll.

Local rider Patrick Byrne took the runner-up spot with the five-year-old Castle Onr Candy, when they kept the poles in their cups in a time of 40.82. Also riding a five-year-old, Ger O’Neill took third place with Ballinaguilkey Special Star, ahead of fellow Kilkenny rider Vincent Byrne who was riding Cinatra Gold.

Winner of the Childeric Saddles- sponsored 1.10m was amateur rider Lisa Doyle and Corland’s Clipper when they delivered a clear in 38.20. Junior rider Sunnibhe Stassin took the runner-up spot when clear in 41.71, ahead of Eimear Furlong and Thistletown Rose Royale, clear in 46.17.
