ACTION in the Meruve Equine Leinster Summer League turned to Killossery Lodge with good numbers recorded in each division. A real contender in this league, Aoife Dooley took the win in the Swords traffic management-sponsored 1.35m section. Riding Marguerite Ryan’s Cavalier Teaca, she left her rivals behind when she delivered a clear in 43.39 seconds. The 16-year-old mare is by Gildawn out of Cavalier Teaca-sired Teaca. This combination took second place at Inistioge and has clocked up points in other rounds and is currently in top place on the leaderboard.
Mark Tracy and Beech Hill Tayla Blue took the runner-up spot when they came home within the 44-second mark in 43.93. Bred by Mark’s wife Heike, the 11-year-old mare is by Bonmahon Master Blue out of the Temple Clover-sired Loughnatousa Ruby. Junior rider Jamie Clarke and Coumroe Special slotted into third, clear in 45.01. Owned by Pauline Clarke and bred by William McDonnell Snr, the 11-year-old is by Tjipke. Niamh O’Connor Barry also kept the poles in place with her own eight-year-old Drumiller Vegas in 45.33 for eventual fourth. Bred by Paul Dillion, the gelding is by Cardento out of Meabhs Clover.
The Clarke family picked up another prize as Camryn and Conto De Reve delivered a clear in a time of 48.78 for fifth. Owned by Victoria Clarke and bred by Noleen Kiernan, the 10-year-old gelding is by Hermes de Reve out of Odessa IV. Sixth place belonged to Ailsa Sexton and Sparky Lad when she came home with nothing to add in 49.31. Bred by Adrian Hill, the 10-year-old is by Ringfort Curise out of Miss Sindy Sue.
Winner of the 1.20m was junior rider Jamie Hargaden and Geron RS, fastest of the nine double clears in 45.78. Owned by Barbara Hargaden, the 12-year-old gelding is by Vigo D’Arsouilles out of Wya Balia RS. Taking the runner-up spot was Jack M Murphy aboard the Valerie O’Reilly-owned Ballinteskin Gaia, clear in 31.34. Ailsa Sexton returned to take third with Sparky Lad in 33.38, ahead of Jamie Clarke and Coumroe Special (34.26). A clear from young rider Ellen Kenny and Champion U in 35.78 saw her take fifth, while Ailsa Sexton took sixth with her own HTS Kobra Kan, when they came home in 38.21.
Winner of the 1.10m was Brian Cassidy (AA) on his own Looks Easy with a foot-perfect round in 28.17. Junior rider Jack M. Murphy featured in this line-up, taking second with Valerie O’Reilly’s Ballinteskin Gaia, clear in 32.80. Michael Murphy (AA) partnered his own Voodoo Quality to a clear in 33.19 for third, ahead of young rider Amy Mitchell on her own Kilbrackan Cassal, clear in 33.63. He delivered another good result with his own Kid Dynamite, clear in 33.86 for fifth, while Patrick Murphy (AA) and Spink Piloth took sixth, clear in 35.39.
