THE Castleforbes Stud 1.20m Midland Classic Championship on Monday morning at Mullingar International Horse Show carried a prize pot of €3,000.

Sven Hadley dominated the division taking three of the top-four spots. He took first place riding his own Swedish-bred mare Topspin after stopping the clock at 34.81 seconds.

He then added a third place aboard Sumas Taloubet (Taloubet Vdl x Pride of Shaunlara), bred at the Suma Stud, in 36.16. He slotted his other mount, the eight-year-old home-bred stallion HSH Harpar du Seigneur (Aganix Du Seigneur x Chippison), into fourth place as the fastest four-faulter in 36.34.

Sandwiched between Hadley’s horses in second place was Ger O’Neill riding Martin Egan’s five-year-old gelding Ballyshan B F Superhero (Celtic Hero B Z x Luz Z), bred by Gary Doherty, in 35.96.

1.10m Derravarra Championship

Francis Derwin Bloodstock sponsored the 1.10m Derravarra Championship on Monday to the tune of €3,000 and it was junior Ellie Pothmann and her seven-year-old AMC Don Carlos (Arioso Du Theillet x Chippson) who came out on top. They broke the finish beam in 36.30 to take the win.

Killian Ryan and the French-bred Uranus D’Or were runners-up, when they stopped the clock at 37 seconds exactly.

Amateur rider Marie Hartley riding Nikita Van Het Heidenhof were third in 37.32, while Emma Dolan and Mark Fagan’s Dutch-bred Afram B were slightly slower in 37.90 for fourth.

Fifth place went to Maretto Flight (Amaretto Darco x Golden River) ridden by Colm Fitzpatrick, while sixth was Junior Sunnibhe Stassin aboard Jane Hancock’s RNH Factor One (The Echo Factor x Beach Ball).
