LAST weekend’s Northern Ireland Outdoor Amateur Championship 2016, held at Kernans Equstrian Centre, included the presentation of two magnificent perpetualtTrophies.

The Maggie Murphy Memorial Perpetual Trophy was presented by Roisin Hughes to Alex Bailey, winner of the Grand Prix on her horse Callie LVS, and the Frank Kernan Memorial Perpetual Trophy also went to Bailey for her victory in the power and speed class. First to jump in the one-round speed class, AA rider Lana Cheyney and Orlay De St Simeon set a cracking pace, finishing in a time of 73.09 seconds. Amateur committee member Roisin Hughes, on Roxborough Echo, gave Cheyney an anxious moment when she flew round the course, finishing only 0.17 behind the winner. Rebecca O’Toole and Glenedens Lancealiitle finished third (75.09).
