ON Sunday, young riders and Children on Horses battled it out at Barnadown for their place to compete at Dublin Horse Show. The standard was extremely high, with each class going to three rounds. First up in the Plusvital arena was the 1.35/1.40m Young Rider division. A big field of 49 went to post and this class was decided over three rounds, with 11 riders booking their place in the final jump-off. Taking the win was Kian Dore riding Jillian Lennon’s Monterey Bay, with a treble clear in 40.74. Local rider, Lauren Adams took the runner-up spot with Caddie Z, when they kept all the poles standing in a time of 42.77. Last of the triple clears and taking third place was Ciaran Foley aboard CSF Despardo, when coming home in 44.61. Senan Reape put in a very fast round with Creevagh Special, stopping the clock in 41.36, but four faults meant that they had to settle for eventual fourth. Slotting into fifth place was Conor Brennan and MHS Jersey Girl, four faults in 41.81, while in sixth was Jack Kent and Origi Van De Bandam, four faults in 42.91.
