MAURICE O’Brien’s name has often appeared in the point-to-point pages of The Irish Field as the landowner of the venue for the popular Dromahane point-to-point track. Last Sunday, Maurice was overjoyed when winning the thoroughbred broodmare class at Clonmel Show with Una Sorpresa who also won the class in 2022.
“I bought her from the late Phonsie O’Brien in 2015 and it’s lovely to bring her back to where she was bred and win. She has bred four winners and has young stock yet to run,” Maurice said. “My kids were with me and it was great excitement. She has previously won Dungarvan, Adamstown and Bannow & Rathangan and she will return to Dungarvan this Sunday [tomorrow]”.
