COMPETING as Meath, the Irish Pony Club team of Lily Kate Buttle (Shillelagh), Mikey English (Tipperary), Grace Mangan (Meath), Orla Stack (Duhallow) and Rachel Twomey (Kildare) finished just outside the placings in the A Final of the Pony Club mounted games competition at last week’s Royal Bath and West Show in Somerset.
The IPC quintet finished fifth (29 points) of 12 in Thursday’s first round won by North Warwickshire (57) and, with points carried forward, sixth in Friday’s round. This was won by Wylye Valley (109) who went on to dominate the A Final on Saturday. Lorna Whelan travelled as trainer to the Irish team with Chris Ahearne acting as chef d’equipe.
