LOUTH’S Mark McAuley was in winning form in Gijon, Spain last week, when taking the top spot in the four-star 1.50m power and speed class on board the talented 10-year-old gelding Fury Nocturne. The pair jumped a perfect double clear and stopped the second-phase clock in 32.39 seconds for the win.
Thursday’s two-star 1.45m class saw McAuley ride Destinee de Vains into fourth place out of 58 starters, with a clear round in 69.95 seconds. Saturday saw Harry Allen riding Ella Gold 3 to a podium finish in the one-star six and seven-year-old 1.30m/1.35m class when a clear round in 64.94 secured them third place.
