NEW Zealand’s Tim Price became the first rider to complete back-to-back five-star wins at Pau with Jarillo last Sunday, edging out both Britain’s Bubby Upton and his wife Jonelle Prize (NZL) to win the seventh five-star of his career.
Second after dressage on 25.7, the defending champions moved up to the overnight lead with a fast cross-country clear, adding just 5.2 time penalties. In a high pressure final show jumping round, where a pole would have dropped him off the podium, Jarillo rattled a pole, but the rail landed back in its cups for an outstanding double win.
