MEATH’S Cian O’Connor had a show to remember at the five-star fixture at Monterrey in Mexico last week, when finishing on the podium in three of the show’s five-star classes.
The Mexico Fall Tour commenced at Club Hípico La Silla in Monterrey on Wednesday, when O’Connor won the 40-strong five-star 1.45m speed class on board the eight-year-old gelding Pegasus. The testing track certainly sorted the wheat from the chaff, as only nine combinations jumped clear within the time allowed. O’Connor and his Susan Magnier-owned mount posted the fastest time of 66.42 to take the top spot, just over half a second ahead of Mexico’s Juan Jose Zendejas Salgado on Just Nice van het Indihof (66.98).
