IT was a great result for the Irish with two podium placings in the 59-strong three-star 1.50m Grand Prix at Vejer de la Frontera in Spain on Sunday.
Monaghan’s Clem McMahon rode Carneyhaugh Unison, an eight-year-old Irish Sport Horse mare bred by Patrick Breen, into second place when double clear in a jump-off time of 37.44 seconds. Meath’s Cian O’Connor finished close behind on Canbella Blue PS in third in 37.61. The Irish pair were only beaten by Portugal’s Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida on Karonia.L in 37.13.
