MARY King, who hardly needs any introduction having represented Britain in six Olympic Games and won Badminton twice and Burghley once, taught a clinic at Danescroft recently.
This was Mary’s first visit to Northern Ireland since riding at Necarne in the early 90s. Tara and Karen Dixon had the idea to invite Mary over to stay so they could organise the clinic, kindly hosted by Michael Dobbs and Leah Knight. The massive outdoor arena had a full set of show jumps and numerous cross-country fences, making it the perfect training ground. Five full groups enjoyed an hour and a half each of Mary’s expertise and knowledge, helping them progress and develop. Not only was it beneficial for the riders, but also a few people came along to watch and learn.
