PATRICIAN Presentation Secondary School Fethard hosted its annual interschools equestrian event on Saturday, March 22nd.

For the second consecutive year, the competition took place at Garranemore Equestrian Centre, where young riders and their ponies gathered to compete in six events. The schools’ team competition was a highlight of the day, showcasing outstanding equestrian talent from eight teams.

A total of 100 participants travelled from counties such as Kerry, Clare, Cork, Limerick and Tipperary, demonstrating the widespread enthusiasm and dedication of young riders from both primary and secondary schools.

Ideal weather conditions added to the excitement, creating a fantastic atmosphere for both competitors and spectators - yes, they escaped the rain. The event was made possible through the generous support of sponsors, particularly Coolmore Stud, The Equine Warehouse, Garranemore Equestrian and Ballynonty Equestrian.

Coolmore Stud and The Equine Warehouse played a crucial role in ensuring the success of the event for a second year in a row, reinforcing their commitment to fostering young equestrian talent. Their dedication to the interschools pony show highlights a shared passion for promoting excellence in the sport.

Beyond the competition, the event also served a meaningful cause. Over €2,000 raised will go towards Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland.

In summary, the interschools pony show, hosted by Patrician Presentation Secondary School Fethard, was more than just a display of talent - it was a testament to the unity and generosity within the equestrian community. A heartfelt thank you to all the participating schools, riders, grooms and sponsors for making this event a success.
