WEST Workshops in Showing and Dressage had its second session of the season at Duffy’s Equestrian Centre, Claregalway. An informative and educational day was had by all who attended, making it a very successful day’s training, along with the brilliant sunshine, which added to the relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

The showing session concentrated on attendees, who had travelled from four counties, perfecting their walk, trot and individual show piece in these paces, mentored by Judy Cazabon, with in-hand advice and direction given by Joe Burke. Kieran Guinness of Halston Stud was also on hand for feedback. They had a very busy day, with all sessions in Lead Rein, Under 16, Over 16 ridden being fully attended.

Following on from their showing, Dressage judge Judith Wurmel was ready to assess the riders and horses/ponies for their individual tests, give feedback and advice.

The lunchtime speaker was Susan Elliott of Elliott Equinetherapy, who gave an insightful talk into the use of artificial aids on your horse, their disadvantages and consequences.

In the afternoon, Michael Harty coached both the U16s and O16s working hunter groups through their jumping schooling session.

Margaret Walsh shared her knowledge on horse and rider biomechanics, advising individually to riders on their position and posture whilst in the saddle.

By the ringside, Rynes Walker Photography was busy capturing fabulous photos and organisers were very grateful for her attendance also.
