AMATUER show jumper Michael Ormond and his daughter Grace Ormond passed Bar 2 of the SJI Five Bar training scheme. The scheme plays an important role in developing the riding skills of SJI members. From its inception the largest participation in the Five Bar has been with younger SJI members, namely pony and young riders although training is open to riders of all ages and categories.
Last week at Raheen Na Gun Stud, Michael and Grace, who are both coached by Ger O’Brien were thrilled to successfully pass the Bar 2 exams under examiner Mary Ellen Rice.
Ger O’ Brien said: “The SJI Five Bar training is open to children and adults alike to improve their riding. I would encourage all those to take part. I have been hosting a lot of the assessment days for many years and it’s the first time to have a child and parent combination on an assessment day.”
