WE had a thought when seeing the following on the Smith Brothers Eventing Facebook page on Sunday:

“A massive well done to Myah McLean, who won the two phase at Glaslough today on her lovely horse Theo.

“Myah is an integral part of our team, from ensuring the horses are well looked after at home, managing the lorry at events and making sure everyone is organised, to assisting with the training and fitness of our horses.

Exam

“Myah is a Level 2 Apprentice with CAFRE and has recently passed her BHS Stage 2 riding and is working towards her Stable Management and Horse Care exam.

“We are delighted for Myah that all her training and hard work has paid off and excited to see what the rest of the season has in store!”

We know there are enough classes at Eventing Ireland one-day events each weekend – some might say too many – but how about a once-a-year class for staff who don’t compete under EI rules? Something along the lines of the Up The Yard Challenge Race for stable and stud staff at Punchestown?
