Lawlor impresses with strong win

NOT all winners, never mind placed combinations, can be covered in these pages but there are a few who have caught the eye.

Firstly, at Hillcrest (2) on Sunday, May 14th, first season rider Caoilfhionn Lawlor won the 24-runner EI100 (J) on her dressage score with her mother Patricia’s Uncle Junior.

Purchased last autumn as Caoilfhionn moved out of ponies, the 10-year-old OBOS Quality 004 gelding was bred in Co Clare by John Finucane out of the Kings Master mare Slievedooley Imp.

Points

Uncle Thomas has just over 200 Show Jumping Ireland points, the most recent having been acquired under his present 17-year-old rider who did a lot of Tetrathlon in her pony days.

As that sport is too time-consuming, Caoilfhionn restricts her running at present to a bit of camogie and football but maintains her links with the Carlow Branch of the Irish Pony Club and hopes to do her B Test this summer.
