Northern Region DI Gransha \ Margie McLoone
THE Northern Region of Dressage Ireland held the second of its Winter League shows last Saturday at Gransha where judging duties were divided between Rosie Gomes and Angeline Nicholson.
In the registered ranks, the day’s highest score of 79.19% was recorded in the Gomes-assessed Elementary BD40 where the five-runner class was won by Dale Roberts on Rademon Aachen, an eight-year-old bay gelding by Anteaus.
Sharon Getty finished second with Taptoo (72.26) ahead of Mark Robinson on Master Caledonia (72.10) but, in the Nicholson-judged Elementary DI51, it was Robinson and Deborah Burns’s Hanoverian gelding who came out on top on 72.78 with Roberts and Rademon Aachen finishing second on 68.70.
One dual winner on the day was Barbara Ellison with her Dutch Warmblood mare Moonlight, an eight-year-old daughter of Glocks Toto Jr. This combination narrowly won the Gomes-judged Preliminary DI18 on 72.92 but, on 67.07, had more in hand over their rivals in the Nicholson-judged Novice BD22.
Jacky Reid won the Preliminary BD15 on the Connemara gelding Tooreen Hugo (69.40), a 10-year-old dun by Matchmakers Lad, while Emma McKee and her traditionally-bred Irish Sport Horse mare Hillside Lass (74.48), a 12-year-old by Come T out of a thoroughbred mare, won the Novice DI21.
