THE West Region of the Association of Irish Riding Clubs covers such a large area that two qualifiers for the Connolly’s Red Mills national championships were staged last Sunday.

Held in conjunction with their Summer Show, Inishowen Riding Club hosted the ‘northern’ qualifier at Lenamore Stables, Co Donegal where the day’s judge was Jacqui McPherson. The hosts were rewarded for their efforts as they go forward to the championships as the winning team on 215 points while also heading to Mullingar are teams from Stracomer (207.9), Letterkenny (207.7) and, as 13 teams competed, Donegal Gaeltacht (205.7).
