AIRE receives 37 defibrillators
THE Association of Irish Riding Establishments (AIRE) has announced that 37 defibrillators have been distributed to affiliated riding centres across the country, thanks to funding received under the Sports Capital Programme.
This vital equipment will enhance safety measures in equestrian facilities nationwide and underscores AIRE’s commitment to supporting riding centres wherever needed. “AIRE continues to uphold its mission to assist and develop Irish equestrian centres through education, training and ongoing support. The organisation remains dedicated to promoting inclusivity and accessibility, ensuring that all clients and members can participate in equestrian activities in a safe and supportive environment,” a press release said.
AIRC qualifiers down for decision today
THE first qualifier for the Association of Irish Riding Clubs/Foran Equine national 70/80cm show jumping championships was held last Sunday in the South West Region at Hitchmough’s Equestrian Centre, where it was hosted, and won, by Highland Lodge. See report on page 111. The championship will be held at the AIRC Festival at Mullingar Equestrian (June 7th and 8th) when it will take place on the Sunday.
The first three Premier Performance RDS team show jumping championship qualifiers are down for decision today (South Leinster) and tomorrow (West and South West) when clubs will have the opportunity to qualify for the Dublin Horse Show. Members are reminded that entries for the Festival close at noon on Thursday next, May 8th.
Irish Pony Club make a trip to the UK
MEMBERS of the Irish Pony Club are travelling to Britain for the first time this year for a mounted games competition being hosted by the Wynnstay Branch of the UK Pony Club at Malpas in Cheshire. The senior team, trained by Michael Finn, comprises Mai Donovan (Wexford), Mia Kent (Wexford), Ruby Sweetnam (Duhallow), Alex Shortt (Kildare) and Lucy Headen (Laois). The Wexfords’ Emer Nolan, a reserve, is accompanying the team and will get to play with a UK Branch team.
The winning Under 10 team from last year’s IPC Festival are playing in the Junior competition and the members of this mainly Wexford squad are Roisin Byrne, Lucy Kent, Anna Donovan and Rhys O’Brien plus Katie Headen of Laois. Their team trainer is Edel Nolan.
