‘I had beefed up the track’ - Kearney

FRANKFORT Stud event organiser Will Kearney received the thumbs up last Sunday when he made much appreciated efforts to offer good both ground and up-to-height courses.

Mindful of this weekend’s ongoing national championships as well as the upcoming international fixture at Ballindenisk, Kearney had put in a considerable work to improve and change the tracks, which this time ran in the reverse direction.

“Going the opposite way gave a kinder sweep up the hill and seemed to get them in a better rhythm. I had beefed up the track as well to include more questions and a few more skinnies. I left the distances nice and open, so as not to be trapping them – I don’t like to see riders having to hook,” he said.

The going meanwhile, was aided by the rain as well as some quick forward thinking. “We were always going to aerovate, but when the rain came on Friday, we decided to get it done as soon as possible in order to allow the water to soak in,” said Kearney.

“We also had tankers on standby, but luckily we didn’t need them, and in racing terms the going would have been listed as good.”
