Slattery scored a comprehensive win with the Georgina Forbes-owned Castleforbes Paddington, an 11-year-old stallion by Padarco out of a Celano mare, crossing the finish line as one of four double clear rounds in a time of 35.95 seconds. The former National Grand Prix League champion also took runner-up spot with Castleforbes Cicely, who is by the prolific sire Carthago Z out of a mare by Concorde.

“It was nice to win, I haven’t had the stallion long, maybe only five or six weeks. The aim will be to get him ready for some rounds of the Premier Series. The mare who finished second is only a nine-year-old and this competition was ideal at this stage for these two horses,” said Slattery afterwards.
