NEXT Wednesday marks the start of the Goresbridge September flagship sale, which as it did last year, runs over six days spanning two weeks. The spectacular growth of online bidding together with the opening of doors for visitors, should result in some lively trade, which, in week one, will focus on ponies, older stock and four-year-olds. As they did last year, the ponies will sell alone on the opening day, before the sale continues in age order.

There appears to be a very strong collection of older horses, both eventers and show jumpers with solid form, as well a wide selection of proven hunters. This broad range of lots is reflected in the varied list of covering sires, which as it has done for several seasons is headed by the Kennedy Brothers’ enduringly popular sire OBOS Quality (20). With eight lots forward, Dignified Van’t Zorgvliet is also well-represented in this first week, as is the traditionally bred Yeats with the same number.
