WITH the exception of the return to action of Coneygree, there was not a lot of good-class action in Britain over the past weekend, but special mention should be made of Junction Fourteen, who landed the Grade 2 Wincanton Rising Stars Novices’ Chase (taken by Silviniaco Conti in 2011) in pretty good style.

On the face of it, this is not the easiest race to assess, with the winner having had just one outing over larger obstacles previously and the runner-up, Arpege d’Alene, making his debut in this sphere. But there are reasons to view the form positively, and they include the evidence of the clock.
