ATTRACTING its biggest entry to date, the Furnell family hosted 224 runners at their Crecora event fixture last Sunday. While the entries were boosted by a few riders seeking last minute championship qualifications, the venue has seen a regular increase in footfall since its inception five years ago. The recent addition of the Try Eventing days has been another well supported feature, and is one that organiser Gerald Furnell believes has really achieved its aim. “Between our last EI event, and the two Try Eventing fixtures at the end of May, we had over 400 horses here over three weekends,” he revealed. “It certainly brought in a lot of people into the sport – some of whom had never evented before and many of which were asking what to do!”
