IN this paper last week, Pat Healy’s column contained a number of interesting ideas he had come across which could offer the prospect of beneficial change to the raceday experience.

Gowran Park was correctly singled out for praise in attracting a crowd of well over 7,000 for its Red Mills fixture and this followed hot on the heels of a hugely successful Thyestes meeting where the track played host to over 8,000 racegoers. Indeed both days are testament to Gowran Park’s ability to engage with its locality while also showing that these institutions of the jumping calendar still resonate with the racing public.
