Albany Stakes (Group 3)

THE first test of the two-year-old formlines at Royal Ascot came when Daahyeh, who had beaten subsequent Queen Mary winner Raffle Prize on debut at Newmarket last month, was made favourite to win the Albany Stakes. Roger Varian’s filly came up trumps as she fought off Ken Condon’s maiden Celtic Beauty on the stands side, with the pair clear of Brian Meehan’s outsider Aroha, who ran a tremendous race to come out on top of the seemingly-unfavoured group on the far side of the track.
