ANYONE who likes to dabble with Tote betting, from the £2 place-only punter to the big money syndicate player, could be forgiven for being thoroughly confused over what is happening with pool betting in Britain at present.

BetFred’s exclusive licence to operate pool betting via the Tote expires on July 13th and a rival operator, BritBet, has been formed by 55 of British racecourses to take over on-course operations which had been operated by the Tote since 1928.
