THERE has been some interesting reaction to the news of the appointment of the British Horseracing Authority’s new Head of Diversity and Inclusion as announced during the week.

For those unaware of the role, it is part of the BHA’s Diversity and Inclusion Plan, and the need for such a move within the organisation is neatly explained in the introduction to the organisation’s policy document, which says:“British racing’s history and heritage is built on the stories of the people and horses, however, currently some of the traditions and practices of the sport are out of kilter with modern British society.
