Ginto looks to have been found a good opportunity to make a winning start over hurdles. He created a major impression in the point-to-point field just over a year ago and he began his career on the track with a second to Whatdeawant in a Fairyhouse bumper on New Year’s Day before winning well here in February. The manner of that triumph suggested he would be well suited by this trip as a novice hurdler.

Midnight It Is might be the pick of the remainder. He has put together some respectable efforts in defeat lately with his latest effort yielding a third to Churchstonewarrior in a maiden hurdle over an extended three miles at Sligo last month. His previous efforts would suggest he will be right at home over this distance.

12.40 For Auction Novice Hurdle (Grade 3) 2m

Marginal preference here is for My Mate Mozzie. He looked a nice prospect when winning a Punchestown Festival bumper on his debut last term and he again looked the part when bolting up in a Punchestown maiden hurdle on his return last month when he made short work of the smart flat runner Barbados. He should be able to hold his own in good company as a novice hurdler and a similar comment applies to Chemical Energy who was a smooth winner of a two-and-a-half-mile maiden hurdle here in September.

He was a smart dual bumper winner last term and should make his mark at graded level as a jumper, though it’s possible he might want a longer trip. San Salvador warrants respect as he was still in front when falling at the last in a Grade 3 novice hurdle at Tipperary a month ago.

1.10 Lismullen Hurdle (Grade 2) 2m 4f

Flooring Porter is put forward to make a winning return to action. Ideally he would prefer a longer trip but this high-class front-runner will be very dangerous on his return in a race where he may not face much competition for the lead. His form last season yielded victories in the Stayers’ Hurdle at Cheltenham and a Grade 1 at Christmas at Leopardstown, and he also dominated a high-class handicap hurdle at this track 11 months ago.

He can edge out old foe Sire Du Berlais who won this race last year before being beaten by Flooring Porter at Leopardstown and Cheltenham – where he ran an excellent race to be beaten just over three lengths into second.

There could be more to come from Grand Roi who was a decent sort last season and won at Grade 2 level, while Sams Profile has questions to answer following his recent comeback at Galway.

1.45 Hotel Park St. Johann In Tirol Austria Handicap Hurdle 2m

A hat-trick of wins could be on the cards for Brides Hill. After filling the runner-up spot in a handicap hurdle at the Galway Festival, she won a maiden hurdle at Tramore and then made light of a rating of 108 to dominate a two-mile handicap hurdle at Tipperary last month. She is now 11lbs higher in the weights for that Tipperary triumph, but there could easily be more to come from her.

The hat-trick-chasing Influential Lady is interesting. Her last two wins have come over two and a half miles and just short of three miles but she previously showed that she could be competitive at this distance. Thousand Tears commands respect on his recent third to Young Fitzy at Galway.

2.20 Safe Gambling Handicap Hurdle (80-116) 2m 6f

Farrawaybay can add to her tally. She is 11lbs higher than when winning at Galway a couple of months ago but has held her form well in two starts since then. Her Galway effort was followed by a second to Butterflyvespiere at Listowel and she again filled the runner-up spot when chasing home Influential Lady at Thurles last time.

Room To Roam looks a big player as he comes here off a second to the progressive First Touch in a handicap hurdle at Roscommon in late September. A similar showing will see him closely involved. Meanwhile, Broken Ice lines up off a good placed effort on the flat which followed a victory in a two-and-a-half-mile handicap hurdle at Bellewstown in August for which he is only 5lbs higher.

2.55 Tote Fortria Chase (Grade 2) 2m

This looks a match between a pair of Gigginstown House Stud-owned runners and the dual Grade 1 scorer Notebook looks capable of seeing off Samcro who is looking to bounce back to form after a disappointing Galway Plate effort.

Notebook began last season with a Grade 2 win at Naas and then ran well behind Chacun Pour Soi at Leopardstown over Christmas but he wasn’t at his best on his last three outings albeit he was beaten less than 10 lengths in the Champion Chase.

Samcro will like the likely decent ground and he has first-time blinkers to aid his cause. He has also had a decent break since his below-par run in the Galway Plate, so there are several factors which could enable him to return to form. He doesn’t look the force of old though and Notebook’s form is of a superior variety.

3.25 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase 2m 1f

Ballyadam can atone for his abortive chasing debut where he went at the first in a beginners’ event at Punchestown last month. Provided he is none the worse for that experience he should take the measure of these rivals. As a novice hurdler his form was on a different level to these opponents as he won the Grade 1 Royal Bond Novice Hurdle and chased home Appreciate It in a couple of top-level events in the spring.

He can deal with former stablemate Wide Receiver who lacks previous chasing experience. This gelding was a reasonable sort over hurdles last term but left the impression that he was capable of better than he got to show and possibly he will come into his own now that he goes chasing.

Wide Receiver’s reliable stablemate Buddy Rich has put together a string of solid efforts over fences and is unlikely to be far away.

3.55 Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust (Pro/Am) Flat Race 2m

Gringo D’Aubrelle looks to have very solid claims. The former winning pointer ran respectably on his sole outing last season but produced a much better effort on his return to the fray at Galway last month when he chased home the useful looking Blazing Khal in a Galway maiden hurdle over just short of two and a half miles.

He has to contend with a drop back in trip but could well be equal to the task.

The newcomer Colonel Bellew is an interesting rival. This son of Kingston Hill represents the formidable Joseph O’Brien and is out of a daughter of the Group 3-placed juvenile Miss Zafonic.

Barry Connell’s L’yser, a newcomer by Martaline and a half-brother to the useful Morosini, could also be of interest.
