Third in the National Hunt Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in March for Willie Mullins, Measureofmydreams has recently joined Meade and the eight-year-old is set to carry top-weight of 11st 10lbs in the €50,000 event which has attracted 25 entries. Meade, who won the race with Tulsa Jack last year and with Mattock Ranger in 2007, could also be represented by Bonny Kate on 10st 13lbs, Tom Horn on 9st 13lbs and Thomond who has been allotted 9st 5lbs at the entry stage.
Gordon Elliott has made three entries as he seeks his first win in the race. Wrath Of Titans, successful in the Guinness Kerry National at Listowel in September, is set to carry 11st while Akorakor is on 10st 10lbs and Captain Von Trappe has 10st 9lbs.
Also with three entries is Mouse Morris who could be represented by recent Irish Grand National winners Rogue Angel (11st 8lbs) and Thunder And Roses (11st 7lbs). Morris has also put Folsom Blue (10st 11lbs) in the race. Willie Mullins, successful with Our Monty in 2009, looks set to rely on his recent course winner New Kid In Town on 10st 1lb while As De Pique, a winner at Gowran Park last time for Gavin Cromwell, would have 10st 2lbs to carry if taking his chance.
Another to win last time out is the Jim Dreaper-trained Sizing Coal and he has 10st 12lbs as he attempts to follow up on his Sligo success of five weeks ago while Michael Hourigan’s Undressed is on 9st 8lbs after his beginners’ chase win at Limerick last month.
The Grade 3 Paddy Power Track My Bet EBF Novice Chase has attracted 13 entries with Westerner Lady, the winner of her last six starts and unbeaten in three runs over fences, leading the way for Willie Mullins. Mouse Morris’ recent Thurles winner Alpha Des Obeaux is another notable entry while Gordon Elliott has put five in the race, including his Tipperary winner Jetstream Jack and Prince Of Scars, one of last season’s leading staying hurdlers.
12 horses have been entered for the Listed Paddy Power Acca Insurance EBF Novice Hurdle including recent course winners Black Warrior from the Charles Byrnes stable and Gordon Elliott’s Blood Crazed Tiger.
Andrew Hogan, manager of Cork Racecourse, said: “Paddy Power Cork Grand National day is one of our biggest meetings and we couldn’t be happier with how Sunday’s card is shaping up. The big race itself has the makings of a highly competitive renewal and the supporting races have attracted significant entries as well. Any horse up to winning at Cork on Sunday will certainly be wining again over the coming months.”
