RICHARD Fahey, hot in pursuit of a 200 plus tally this year, moved closer with a tremendous assault on the valuable Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury last Saturday.
The fact that the Yorkshire-based Irishman was able to field eight of the 22-runner field shows how far he has come in recent seasons. In the end he won with 28/1 chance Lathom, who beat stable-companion Mr Lupton, 25/1, by a neck with another of the raiding party, 50/1 shot David’s Duchess, a close-up fourth. Only Joseph Tuite’s Field Of Vision in third prevented a clean sweep for the stable.
