EARLY harness racing posters used to proclaim ‘the thrills and spills of harness racing’. In 2024, the thrills and spills included:

  • A two-horse race for the title of leading driver until Patrick Kane pulled clear
  • A string of successes for Irish-breds in the US, where they have won over $2 million between them
  • A faultless performance by the Irish Harness Racing Association’s Mark Flanagan and George McCullough in the Oireachtas in April
  • Harry Knows doing us proud in Holland, then proving that even champions can have an off-day in Sweden during June
