THE traditional Co Clare hunt meeting at Quakerstown on Easter Sunday has been the starting point for some top-class performers over the years including Bacardys and Champagne Fever.
The victory of the Stowaway-sired Champagne Platinum (6/4-2/1) in the opening Goffs UK Aintree Sale four-year-old maiden last Sunday evoked memories of the latter, as the grey is similarly owned/trained by Roisin Hickey and her husband Thomond O’Mara at their Knockanglass base in Co Tipperary.
