ATTROCIOUS weather conditions did little to take the shine off the impressive debut performance of Johnnywho (93++) as he left his rivals trailing in his wake in the rain-soaked conditions at Rathcannon.

The son of Califet had been able to set the pace and his superiority was evidenced some way out as Derek O’Connor sat motionless in contrast to his under pressure rivals, and the pair eased their way up the hill to a very comfortable success. He came through this test with flying colours.

Plenty Of Time (81+) and My Silver Lining may only have faced two other rivals, however it may turn out to be a notable piece of form with the pair in a league of their own, while On The Sod (105+) clearly relishes a test as he made winning return to preserve his 100% strike rate in the pointing fields ahead of an improved Fenno’s Storm.

Dollar Bae (84++) made her winning debut in a time that was 14 seconds quicker than any of the other five winners on the Ballycrystal card, and whilst her task may have been eased by a faller in the back straight, the manner of her wide-margin success certainly points to a mare that thrived in the test that she was set.

Samanntom (108) looked even better than his recent Curraghmore victory to defeat Dylrow en route to a third straight success, while Five Dollar Fine (87+) could be a horse to follow if appearing in winners’ company, as he comfortably dismissed a field full of form horses in the finale to suggest that it could be a piece of form to keep on the right side of.

Conditions had been more favourable at Kinsale 24 hours earlier as Susie Miller supplemented her Umma House maiden success in a small but select field which included three maiden winners from recent weeks.

Victory may not have seemed likely early in the home straight, however she came home particularly well and can continue to climb through the ranks on this evidence.

Red River Valley (89+) was gutsy from the front to step up from his debut for an in-form stable, Rath Gaul Boy (91+) overcame more experienced rivals on his debut.
