TESTING conditions produced a somewhat unusual challenge for an end of May fixture at Tralee last Sunday, but that proved to be little inconvenience for Givega (90++) who made his debut as a five-year-old for the Barry O’Neill, Colin Bowe, Walter Connors combination which previously combined to produce Envoi Allen. Also a French-bred, this son of Authorized is closely related to Quevega as his named hints at, and he certainly won with the minimum of fuss.

What he beat will become clear in time, but his superiority was plainly clear to see as he crossed the line on the bridle, and it seemed that he could have won by many multiples of the winning distance if required.
