SEAN Doyle would look to have unearthed another exciting individual with his Lookaway (93++) making a winning debut at Kildorrery on Sunday.

Most eye-catchingly, such was Liam Gilligan’s confidence in the saddle, he was able to sit motionless aboard the son of Ask to win unchallenged in a race where the front pair finished some 12 lengths clear of the third horse, with in turn a distance back to the final three finishers.

It was perhaps even easier for track returnee Rosa Gloriosa (81++) in the mares’ maiden as she won with the authority expected from a mare that has been placed five times under rules since she was last seen in the pointing fields.

Lord Schnitzel (97+) continued to work his way up through the ranks with a third win on the bounce. He would certainly not be out of place in spring opens.

On the same afternoon at Turtulla, Making Country (93+) may well have been well-beaten when keen in a listed bumper at Limerick on his debut in the spring, but it may be wise to forgive him that effort if his victory on Sunday is anything to judge him by.

Making all, he put a 15-strong field to the sword as he travelled particularly well through the race to win comfortably in the quickest time on the card.

Focus Point (88+) proved an altogether different prospect to his spring form with his wide-margin success, while Er Dancer (110+) looked an improved force as he made a winning return, albeit likely aided by the departure of Its All Guesswork in the straight.

A day earlier and Champagne Town (92+) and Hermes Allen (92+) were two notable four-year-olds at Kirkistown that kickstarted a very competitive card which is likely to produce a number of subsequent winners.

That includes The Creadan Rogue (95+) who backed up his Damma House victory and looks capable of climbing up further through the ranks, Some Man (109++) who dominated in the open, and Blackcauseway (91+), a staying chaser of note for the future after an all-the-way victory on his debut.
